Benefits of Thai Massage

Thai Massage is an ancient physical therapy that has been practiced in Thailand for thousands of years. It is believed that Thai Massage was developed more than 2500 years ago by a famous doctor named Jivaka Kumar.  He was a friend and personal doctor to the Buddha who had tremendous knowledge of medicine for the time. Dr Kumar is considered to be the inventor and father of Thai Traditional Medicine.  It is closely tied to the Thai culture and widely practiced and respected throughout South East Asia.  It’s also become quite popular in Europe as well.

Chayada, also known as Denny, has studied both Eastern and Western Massage Therapies having studied massage in both Thailand and the US. She practiced massage in Bangkok and Central Europe prior to coming to the US several years ago. Her goal is to aid the clients though both Eastern and Western Massage Modalities in improving their overall health based on their individual needs. She is happily to work with you to determine what is most beneficial for you.  It can be relaxing, therapeutic or both.

Unlike Western Massage, Thai Massage is generally done on a mat on the floor with the client wearing comfortable clothing. Sometimes, it is referred to as Thai Yoga Massage as some movements may resemble Yoga. The masseuse and client work together through a series of stretching movements. Rather than just hands, Thai Massage may involve thumbs, forearms, elbows, knees and feet to apply pressure where needed. It has some similarities to physical therapy as its goal is to improve one’s overall health and well-being.  Denny is equally proficient with the standard massage table, having trained in Western Massage modalities as well.
